The ancient art of celestial navigation was all but lost to Māori.

Operated by Te Matau a Māui Voyaging Trust, owned by Ngati Kahugnunu Inc, based in Ahuriri, Hawke’s Bay, our Waka provides the ultimate platform to connect Māori with their roots, and a non-threatening vessel to raise cultural awareness for non-māori.

Band has supported the Waka through sponsorship and governance since 2013 and we are continually encouraged by the great work the crew and whānau are doing in our communities.
